The Archaeologists 4

Every expedition needs a few wildcards; the ones who see the world sideways, who can connect threads no one else even notices. The Archaeologists call them “The Unorthodox Minds,” and though their methods are unconventional, their results are undeniable. They’re the glue between science and serendipity, the spark that turns method into magic.
Dr. Rian Holt & Peanut
Dr. Holt is the kind of man who dives headfirst into danger with a grin and a gadget that probably shouldn’t work, but does. Equal parts daredevil and dreamer, he specializes in uncovering the traps, treasures, and trick mechanisms buried in ancient ruins. His partner, Peanut, is a genetically engineered recreation of his childhood imaginary friend; a pink, narwhal-like companion who’s equal parts muscle, mascot, and emotional support. Together, they make archaeology look like a Saturday morning cartoon, and somehow, that’s exactly why they succeed.
Elliot Vance
Elliot Vance may look like a reclusive librarian with a bad haircut and a worse attitude, but behind the oversized coat and coffee-stained notes lies a tactical genius. She’s the keeper of the archives, guardian of the faction’s deepest records, and though she prefers the quiet hum of her databanks, she’s more than capable in the field. Her right arm, a piece of heavy repurposed exo-armor, can punch through stone or hack ancient consoles with equal precision. Few have seen her fight, but those who have describe it as equal parts poetry and demolition.
Dr. Grant Moddox
A relic hunter built like a fortress, Dr. Moddox looks more like a bouncer than a scholar. But beneath that gruff exterior is a meticulous mind honed by years of field work and forensic reconstruction. Once a military investigator, Moddox now channels his iron discipline into decoding the architectural logic of extinct civilizations. To him, ruins are crime scenes; evidence of history’s forgotten motives. He speaks little, works tirelessly, and treats every collapsed temple like a mystery that demands justice.
Dr. Isabella Thumb
Efficient, optimistic, and endlessly capable, Dr. Thumb is the backbone of every long-term dig. She manages base camps like clockwork, ensuring supplies, morale, and communication flow as smoothly as her smile. A builder at heart, she has a gift for turning barren ground into thriving research outposts. Her backpack is practically a mobile workshop, packed with everything from pickaxes to portable coffee makers. To the rest of the Archaeologists, she’s “Mom,” the one who keeps them alive, organized, and properly caffeinated.
Professor Finnworth
Professor Finnworth’s origins are anyone’s guess; some say he’s a botched genetic experiment, others that he’s the result of an ancient curse, but whatever he is, he’s indispensable. A talking, bipedal feline with a penchant for Hawaiian shirts and terrible puns, Finnworth is both the faction’s mascot and one of its finest minds. His research into cultural mythology and semiotics has helped decode countless lost languages. He insists that “science is best served with a side of whimsy,” and judging by his results, it’s hard to argue.
